Hi there! I’m Jean.

I’m a silly girl in Ohio rockin’ life with my two little boys, husband and dogger. I’m spontaneous, goofy and really sarcastic. I’m creative, especially when it comes to crafting, cooking and photography. Music makes me warm and fuzzy. Exercising makes me sparkle. I love glitter. I’m a chatterbox. How’s that for me in a nut shell?

I believe health and fitness start in one place; the kitchen. Exercise often. Have fun. Repeat.

In 2008, I gave birth to my oldest son. I gained 60 pounds with his pregnancy. Whoops.  The first photo was at his baby shower, where I wasn’t even at my highest yet, which ended up being 230 pounds on his birth day.  I distinctly remember telling the nurse not to tell me what the scale said and she told me anyway.  I threw a hissy fit in my head because it was obviously all her fault. πŸ˜‰  Through oodles of hard work, I lost all of the weight, and then some, from that pregnancy.

In the next few years, my weight fluctuated [read:  flopped around like a fish out of water].  I had our next son in April of 2013. With that pregnancy, I gained 20 pounds by being much more aware of my food choices and remaining active, of course.  Apparently I didn’t need the endless supply of orange Tic Tacs I craved in my first pregnancy.  Who knew?  I had learned that lesson the hard way the first time around, but at least I learned it! πŸ˜‰

Present day, I’m a momma of two. I am 34 years old. I work full-time and own a business as well. I’ve grown and birthed two beautiful babies; one by c-section and one naturally. I have Hashimoto’s and a nodule on my thyroid. I have a blood disorder called Polycythemia Rubra Vera, which can cause fatigue, blood clotting, migraines and many other not-so-glorious issues. I have a slipped disc in my lower back that causes me pain every.single.day.

You know what?  I have no excuses because I am determined. I am strong. I am in the best health of my life.

This life doesn’t define us. We define our lives.

    Your recipes are terrific! Question, when you are adding cheese to any of your recipes are you using whole fat or reduced fat? Also for your egg dish you don’t separate out some of the yolks?

    I was telling my daughter about 21 day fix and she mentioned your site. I have a question for you I am interested in this program for myself but also to sell product. I am 48 and have started gaining weight. All my friends tell me that is how it is when your in menopause.. I want to show that is wrong with diet and exercise I can lose weight and so can they. How do you get started selling product??

    I absolutely love all.the recipes you post. I fell off the wagon and gained all the weight I lost back but I see posts pop up everyday on fb and it has gotten me motivated again to start the 21 day fix over again and this time I will.be trying to make all the food you have posted over time. Do you have an idea on when your cookbook will be ready? I am dying to get my hands on a few copies for myself and gifts for friends who are also on the fix and struggling with food ideas. Thank you for all that you do. Your a inspiration:)

    This is definitely my biggest inspiration since before you started the blog! I’ve tried many of the 21 day fix recipes and I love them all!     I am awaiting my kit now to get started. I am a VERY picky eater. I have been looking for the best recipes and way to incorporate this into a healthy diet plan for me. There are probably only 6 things that I like in each category of fruits, vegtables and proteins/ I dont want to eat the same thing all the time but will If I have to. Any suggestions????

    I stumbled on your page first with Instagram and then I found your page on FB and then the blog! Kind of stalker status but honestly not really. I really like the recipes. As someone who is new to shakeology I’m searching for ways to incorporate it into meals and just overall healthy AND delicious recipes for my family.

    Just stated my 21 day fix a week ago, lost 5 lbs. already feel good, have more engery and my clothes fit a bit better too!!
